Find a business media or fund
with a bigger reach. I’ll wait.
Back in 2018, I moved to the UK with $1,000 and started a consumer brand called madeby just before COVID hit. A few years later, we’d grown a profitable multi-million dollar bootstrapped company, with online customers putting us out of stock more than we’d like, and 800 retail partners across the world, from Sephora to Urban Outfitters.
NatWest (big British Bank) said we were “one of the fastest growing brands in the country” and TikTok ranked us in the “Top 3 best-selling brands” on the platform. We also racked up some pretty impressive titles if you’re into that sort of thing, like when I made the “Forbes 30 Under 30 “ list for Europe or when Forbes named me one of the “50 Women Behind Brands” in the Middle East. I’ve been named on all the “x-age-under-x-age” lists which thank god I did early because at 31, I’m no longer that interesting.

But then I realised…
Less than 3% of VC funding goes to diverse founders yet we are the most resilient and fundable. We often overcome unique challenges to get where we are.
In addition, talent is equally distributed around the world. Capital and opportunity aren’t. I see so much untapped potential in markets outside of the US and Europe that present massive opportunities for those building and investing.
But early startup success is often propelled by who you know — whether advisors, potential customers or strategic partners. Founders from outside of the tech/VC/finance/elite university world are less likely to have connections to these influential networks.
But then I realised…

My work has now become laser-focused on inspiring and funding a new generation of entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds to achieve their goals and settle for nothing short of extraordinary, whilst building a manifesto for a revolution in the way “we” are perceived.
I personally find the most fulfilling moments in my life are when I help others reach their potential. That’s what investing is about for me: believing in someone, proving it with my investment, and then helping them reach their dream.
I’m in this for the long-haul and this fund is just step 1 in building one of the biggest founder-focused funds in the world. I’m using both THIRD and my platform to give portfolio companies the best possible chance of success and I hope you’ll join me in this journey.
